Aurélien Grosdidier
I studied pharmacy at the Université Joseph Fourier, Grenoble, France. I also obtained a Masters degree in Bioinformatics in Lausanne in 2001. Then, I worked on EADock, a software predicting molecular interactions, and obtained a PhD in biology in 2007. After my PhD thesis and my PharmD thesis, I started a PostDoc in the Molecular modeling group of the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, in Lausanne, Switzerland.
During this time, I also worked as a project manager in computer science, and software programer for several companies.
So far, I have been involved in five research groups:
- the SIB - Protein Structure group. (Lausanne, Switzerland): 2003-now
- the SIB - Biological Information Modeling Group. (Lausanne, Switzerland, closed in 2005): 2002-2003
- the Glaxo Wellcome Experimental Research. (Geneva, Switzerland, closed in 2002): 2001
- the Centre d'Etude et de Recherche sur les Macromolécules Végétales (Grenoble, France): 1997-1999
- the Institut de Biologie Structurale (Grenoble, France): 1997-1999
I'm also head of the technical advisory board of Antesis Interactive, president of Antesis.Org, and the main developer of several task-oriented Linux live-CDs. Most of these projects are sponsored by Antesis Interactive.

Current work
I am very interested in the prediction of interactions of small ligands into protein active sites, and I am actively working on the EADock software, which was developped during my PhD. Today, I am also involved in several projects related to EADock.
- Java wrappers for CHARMM, Anolea, DSSP and other common scientific softwares
- Jeep: an evolutionary engine
- SwissDock: a web server for protein-ligand docking (coming soon)
- ChimPlug: a UCSF Chimera plugin for CHARMM, EADock and S3DB.
Hobbies
I'm fond of sailing, especially around Corsica, photography, skiing, psychology, social behaviours and cognitive science. A selection of some pictures I shot are available here.
